Optus has selected Jakob Raby of Lake City as the 2015 recipient of the Optus Family Scholarship in honor of Adam Harrington. Jake will graduate from Riverside High School in May where he has a 3.58 grade point average and is ranked 15 in his graduating class. He plans to attend Arkansas State University in the fall majoring in nursing with plans to later further his education at UAMS and eventually become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Jake is the son of Shelly Raby of Lake City. Shelly has been employed at Optus for seven years where she is a Distribution Clerk.

In order to qualify for this scholarship, Jake had to be a full-time student working towards an undergraduate degree at an accredited college or university, have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0, and be the child or grandchild of a current full-time Optus employee. The $1,000 per semester scholarship will be renewed by Optus for up to 3 additional years as long as Jake maintains his eligibility.

“We are honored to offer this benefit to our employees while paying tribute to the memory of Adam Harrington. We are pleased to give this scholarship to a student such as Jake, who possesses so many of the same qualities Adam was known for—leadership, service, and dedication to academic studies,” commented Mark Duckworth, President and CEO of Optus. Adam Harrington was the son of Neal and Rhonda Harrington, formerly of Jonesboro. Adam was a graduate of Nettleton High School and was attending the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville at the time of his passing.
